our story

the meet cute

We met on a dating app called Hinge… so not quite a meet-cute, but we are both thankful that it brought us together. Our first date was spent drinking beers and watching the sunset at Presidio Park followed by dinner and margaritas at Casa Guadalajara in Old Town.

Paige’s POV: I remember being nervous, but I got an early glimpse at Jack’s sense of humor, which put me at ease. The conversation flowed easily without awkwardness, and I could tell we had a lot in common. I remember he ordered a chimichanga, and I thought that was a bold move.

Jack’s POV: I showed up 5-10 minutes early, and when I parked I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. Every minute felt like an hour. Should I just sit in my car? Is that weird? I was nervous, after all, this was my first ‘dating app’ date.  I decided I would look cooler if I was sitting on my back bumper when she arrived so that’s what I did. First thing I noticed when she got out of her car was her long beautiful hair. I had a playlist cued up for when we settled at our picnic spot on the grass, my go to song to set the vibe was Todd Rundgren “I Saw the Light.” Must have worked like a charm!

the chase

In the weeks, months, and years that followed, we fell in love and seamlessly merged our lives together. We bonded over our shared values and love for our family and friends along with our shared competitiveness and desire to live life to the fullest. Paige fell in love with Jack’s ability and desire to find joy in all of his free moments, his zest for life. I also fell in love with his silly comedic ‘bits’ that keep me laughing every day. Jack fell in love with Paige’s intelligence, quick wit and her kindness. She was so quick to pick up on clever one liners and my strange sense of humor, and she’d use it right back on me. Her ridiculously good looks didn’t hurt either.

happily ever after

On a warm, sunny August day, Jack proposed to Paige under a tree at Mission Point Park along Mission Bay. We set out to walk around the bay, like we had hundreds of times, only this time was vastly different. After Jack proposed, and Paige said yes, we were greeted by another surprise of family and friends celebrating at one of our favorite watering holes, The Pennant, in Mission Beach.

Paige’s POV: I was truly surprised by the proposal, in the best way. I had no clue it was happening, but thought to myself earlier in the day, ‘this would be a great day to get engaged.’ Quickest ‘Yes’ I’ve ever said, I can’t wait to marry my best friend. I remember before Jack got down on one knee, he said “everyday with you is special, but today is extra special,” and indeed it was.

Jack’s POV: Over the years, I’ve seen how selfless Paige is, and the effort she puts into not just our relationship but the energy she puts into her friendships and her family. It is clear she would prefer to care for, and celebrate others before herself.  For our engagement, I wanted to give Paige a taste of her own medicine! For her to be on the receiving end of a big surprise and to feel all the love and support from not just me, but our family and friends…it meant everything to me and it was an unforgettable day!
